What does PMU stand for?

PMU stands for Permanent Makeup. Some people refer to PMU as SPMU (Semi Permanent makeup) which is referring to the same procedure. We don’t call it semi-permanent, even though pigment can fade, the skin never returns to its original state so we call it PMU.

What is an ombre/powder brow?

An ombre/powder brow is created with a machine. The Ombre Blush Brow® technique created by Clarissa Stefania, is an over dramatised fade where the brow is significantly lighter in the front and gets deeper in colour throughout the brow to the end. The Ombre Blush Brow® result is soft and fluffy with a pop of definition, which looks great with or without makeup.

What is the difference between microblading and machine work?

Microbladed eyebrows are created by using a blade manually to create hairstrokes and then pigment is applied into these areas. Microblading is less versatile as only those with dry or normal skin are eligible for the procedure.

Machine eyebrows are versatile and all sorts of different techniques can be completed. The most popular technique used is a form of ombre where shading and pixels are applied. All skin types are eligible for this procedure.

How much money could I make?

This will vary depending on the number of bookings you take and how many days/hours you plan to work. Initially, you will need to build your clientele and portfolio to gain business. There are massive potential earnings if hard work is put in, as an example if you were to complete 2 new procedures a day at £300 for 5 days a week, this would produce a turnover of £156,000 per year.

We always advise you to invest in quality training, otherwise you’ll end up having to attend further training to get the education you need. With our Beginners Course you can make back the value of your course in under 8 weeks*!

*15 procedures (2 a week) charged at £300.

How do you choose the right trainer?

Clarissa advises you choose a trainer who inspires you and whose work you love and want to create yourself.

What training kit do I get?

The price includes an inclusive kit which will provide most of the equipment required to complete at least 30 procedures! Our training kit is of a high quality and provides more than just the essentials.

What would I need to do for my case studies/assessment?

Following your 5 day training you will need to complete 6 case studies in your own space and take before, pre draw and after photos to add to your portfolio prior to your final assessment with Clarissa.

The final assessment is arranged up to 3 months after your onsite training. It is advisable to aim to do one case study a week. We ask students to try to get their 6 case studies booked in before your onsite training and to ensure you have one of these within the first week following your training, this is to continue practice and confidence with the technique without letting time lapse between your onsite training and case studies.

Would I charge for case studies?

For case studies some students choose to use family and friends and to offer this for free, but you can charge a small amount if you choose to (we wouldn’t advise charging more that £75-£100 if you do choose to charge).

Once you have completed your final assessment and passed you will then receive your qualification certificate and will be able to begin to book paying clients in. You will need to change your insurance at this point, but this is quick and easy, and we will go through this with you on your training. We say to students that the first month after passing their assessment they can do promotional offers in terms of cost and to then go to the correct pricing (minimum of £300 per new procedure to include a top up procedure).

What will I need to do to get a licence?

You will need to apply to your local council for a licence to be registered to perform the PMU procedure. We will provide you with all the information you need on criteria and how to apply.

What support will I get?

We offer dedicated support to students prior to their training date, during training and after training. We offer advice and information on how to set up your business and prepare for your new career. There is a dedicated team who will always be available to answer any questions, assist you when needed and offer ongoing support.

Is the OBB Masterclass the right training for me?

Clarissa’s aim in her Masterclasses isn’t just to teach the OBB technique, but to identify each students area they struggle in or lack confidence in and focus on getting them skilled up in that area. We will cater to your needs and we just know you won’t regret it!
